Still Becoming (Thank Goodness)

Hey Friend,

Recently, I (re)started working with a client I had last worked with in early 2020. At that time (and when the world shut down), I was only a few months into my business. An infant entrepreneur, testing her lungs and finding her place in a brand new world.

The last six years have been both short and long, and when I walked into the client's building a few days ago, I felt surprised at how viscerally I could sense how much I've grown as an entrepreneur, as a facilitator, and as a human. It reminded me of something my college friend Laura Goldstein said on the most recent episode of ChatGMB — that you can't read the label from inside the jar and sometimes it takes stepping outside your own story (or back into an old room) to see how far you've come.

Here's what I'm seeing for myself:

  • I'm more confident in my own skin.
  • I'm less apologetic and desperate for approval.
  • I'm better at setting and enforcing boundaries.
  • I'm more direct in my communication and use far fewer qualifiers.
  • I'm a whole lot less likely to overthink, overdesign, or overdeliberate.
  • I don't leave every room wondering if people liked me or thought I was smart.
  • I trust my gut and know how to back my instincts up with evidence.
  • I am quicker to try things and less attached to outcomes.
  • I am not afraid to speak up or walk away when my (or anyone's) values are being threatened.
  • I know who I am and who I want to be.

I'm still very much the same person, and yet, I am amazed at how much I am still evolving and becoming.

What a beautiful, humbling, and merciless experience it is to be human.

What a gift to be able to review and anticipate metamorphosis at the same time.

So much of what I do through Reloveution, RepairWorks, and the Millennial Manager Collective is about creating the conditions for people, teams, and organizations to grow, evolve, and become more fully themselves.

It's about bearing witness to and making sense of the messiness and beauty of humanity.

And it's about guiding a journey—whether it's one hour, three months, or six years—where, at the end, people and groups aren't the same as when they started.

Transformation is a bit of a buzzword, but it's a word our clients and partners consistently use to describe their experience and the outcomes of working with us.

What makes us different isn't a methodology or a model (though those are awesome), it's what happens in the room.

Whether it's through one-on-one coaching, retreats, workshops, team cohesion sessions, or consulting engagements, we create experiences where people have space to tell the truth, practice real skills with easily applicable, human frameworks, and leave feeling fundamentally transformed.

That's not an accident. It's the result of a very particular set of gifts applied with intention, care, and decades of practice.

No matter what we do together, you can expect:

A space where people actually feel safe. Not "safe" in the sense that nothing challenging will happen, but safe in the sense that all perspectives are welcomed, no one is shamed for who or where they are, and the hardest conversations are held with enough care that people can stay present for them. Belonging isn't a buzzword here. It's a design principle.

Facilitation that meets people where they are. Every engagement is customized to your context, scaffolded to your or your group's needs, and paced to honor both the urgency of the content and the humanity of the people in the room. We listen (really listen) and adjust in real time when the room needs something different than what was planned.

The courage to go there. I am a truth-teller by gift and by practice. I will say the hard thing, name the dynamic in the room, and hold people accountable to their own stated values, all without making anyone feel attacked or diminished. I'm funny and warm and deeply serious, often in the same breath. I'm your cheerleader and your mirror, often simultaneously.

Learning that actually lands. Big ideas get turned into clear, practical tools. Reflection is guided and intentional. You don't just understand concepts, but practice them, calibrate them, and leave with something concrete to do next.

A facilitator who genuinely cares. I am generous with my energy, my insight, and my investment in the people I work with. Clients consistently describe my experiences as among the most meaningful professional development of their careers. Not because the content is impressive (though it is), but because they felt seen, supported, and moved.

Yes. I told you. I know who I am. 2020 me would both cringe and jump up and down on my behalf!

With love always,
Marissa
